Varma Marma

Varma Marma “Varmam,” also known as “Marmam,” is an ancient healing technique rooted in traditional Indian medicine. The term “Marmam” means ‘secret,’ reflecting the mysterious and vital nature of these energy points. While “Marmam” has a singular meaning, “Varmam” is an artistic expression with deeper layers of meaning. Varma/Marma points are not just physical landmarks on the body; they are powerful centers where muscles, veins, ligaments, bones, and joints meet — and where life energy (Prana), along with subtle forces like Ojusa and Tejas, are concentrated. These points are believed to influence both healing and harm, depending on how they are activated. Marma therapy involves the gentle stimulation or massage of these points to encourage the flow of vital energy and restore balance. There are 107 recognized marma points: 11 in the limbs, 26 in the trunk, 37 in the head and neck, and 33 located elsewhere.
